Finally, a game which introduces dogs to hunting. I said 'need' a lot there but I do think they are things you will have to focus on immediately in order for this game to have a decent reputation and consistent fan base. The weapons need a lot of improvement, cross hairs in the scopes look bad, the ballistics feel bad, recoil and the bits mentioned previously just all need to be worked on really.Ĥ. A rating system needs to be implemented for trophy organs, fur variants, weights etc.ģ. Animal models and AI need far more attentionĢ. Something to consider if you plan to take a leaf out of the same book as other developers, utilising DLC releases as the cash injections needed for longevity.Īs stated by pretty much everyone who has played the game and highlighted by GM and Stardog, I just wanted to summarise a few of the key things that I think take president over anything else.ġ. EW got around 80GBP out of me because their price point was pretty much exactly where it needs to be for what you get. Seems like generally people are wanting to invest into this game and make it something great, I will say though, releasing DLC for the current price to content ratio is going to deter most people from buying it. Some really good points from everyone all around. I hope the devs make a long term investment in this game as it really could be good with some attention to detail and work. This game seems like a really good cross between CotW and TheHunter Classic but really rough around the collar still, which I fully understand being so new. I like how much harder it is to find and track animals because there are no glowy bits everywhere guiding you. Not sure how but I think for longevity of the that really does.Īll in all it is better than I thought it would be and I am really enjoying it.

That is what got me so hooked on TheHunter Classic was TruRAC and knowing that every hunt there was a possibility of getting some crazy unique animal that is different than any other. My biggest issue so far with this game is no TruRAC system and everything seems pretty uniform when it comes to racks which will really cut down on the replayability for me I fear. The animal models are horrible as stated above, really bad. I love that! That is one of my biggest complaints about CotW, the sheer numbers of animals is crazy so I really appreciate that approach I hope that doesn't change. There animals are much harder to find and alot fewer like in real life. Grizzly is spot on, I would say this feels more like a hunting sim than the shooting gallery that CotW devolves into. Long time CotW and TheHunter Classic addict here. Great first impressions here so I will add a few too. This game takes me back to old cabellas games its less about the atmosphere and more about the hunt. COTW is a very atmospheric game its gorgeous but the hunting devolves into a shooting gallery. which is a shame but hey atleast its built into the game.Ĭomparing this to cotw. The nueance of the tag system, and rules while hunting is fun and unique.ħ.

Seems relativley bug free in my limited gameplay.Ħ. Weapon customization is cool but the weapons are so static and feel paper, the game feels like its 10 years old and not in a good way.Ĥ. Its not about finding patterns in animal behavior like cotw but at the same time animals seem random.ģ.

Somehow feels both more arcadey and yet more realistic then COTW.

Overall feel, feels more like a hunting game then the hunter series which feels like a target gallery at times.Ģ. I play alot of the the hunter and the hunter call of the wild so that is going to color my first impressions.ġ. Looking forward to see it grow into something special over time, it has the potential if it gets the attention. Shotgun doesn't work in the shooting rangeĭon't take me wrong, i'm only highlighting these to bare in mind for future patches but in the few hours I've played I've been enjoying the game. From what I've seen some of the racks could do with a revisit, especially the Fallowħ.

Ducks and Geese (and probably all other birds) act very much in unison - looks pretty silly.Ħ. Labradors tails are a bit spaghettified, IRL they are more sturdy and stable and in fact when they are interested in something they go quite straight parallel to the ground (can't comment on other dogs, but the fact we have them in game at all is awesome)ĥ. No zoom in/out on the scopes or Binoculars - would be a welcome additionĤ. When running if you press A or D the animation is pretty naff - very sudden and not too pleasantĢ. I think the game has a lot of potential but I just wanted to give you a couple of observations from my first impressions, in no order ġ.
